Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was a speaker, investor, and businesswoman from the United American. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage she established. NRT purchased it for $66 million in 2001. Corcoran eventually left the business. Corcoran was among the original Shark Tank investors. She was a regular on every episode of ABC's Shark Tank. In February 2020 Corcoran had signed 53 deals, with the biggest being a $350,000 investment that included 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second of a family of 10 kids born to an Irish-Catholic couple working in the middle class in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence Corcoran's mother was an exemplary household worker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. her father, was a multi-talented worker throughout the years of Corcoran's childhood. Her family was sometimes dependent on food deliveries from a friendly local grocer for free food. Corcoran recalls her father as a man who occasionally consumed too much alcohol and treated her mother with disrespect and contempt, particularly when he was drinking. Corcoran was a struggle in school and was eventually diagnosed with dyslexia. Corcoran attended an Catholic elementary school in her community and began high school at St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. Corcoran was absent from several classes in her first year and transferred to Leonia High School where she was a D student.
